Fitzroy Lions uses football as a vehicle for social change, building community and creating opportunity.

About Us

At Fitzroy Lions, our goal is to remove the barriers that prevent young people from accessing sport – whether those challenges are financial, cultural or logistical.

We are a space for kids to learn new skills, grow in confidence, create a positive routine and build trusting relationships.

Fitzroy Lions brings the community together around a love of football and fun, demonstrating every day that our diversity is our strength.

Our club is a place where everyone belongs, where young people are nurtured and supported, and where there are no barriers to opportunity and access for all.

creating opportunity

More than 80 per cent of our members live in public housing, and the high cost of club soccer means that without FLSC offering subsidised football, many would miss out on the wellbeing benefits that sport offers.

Our programs

  • Miniroos and Juniors (U7-U16, boys and girls)

  • Mini Cubs (4-6 year olds, boys and girls)

  • Senior men and women (open age)

  • Young leaders program, supporting 13-18 year olds from the Richmond estate

  • All abilities inclusion program, run in partnership with Welcoming Australia

  • School outreach programs, with local primary schools

Supporting families

As well as a soccer club, we’re an embedded community organisation, helping families with challenges that come up – transport to games, filling in complicated paperwork, housing applications, drivers licenses and much more.

Frustrated parents often turn to us for help with their children's behaviour. We work to bridge the gap between parents and their children's perspectives, fostering better understanding and relationships within families.

And many young people and their parents come to us for support in finding employment, because they trust us to help wherever we can.

Ready to make a lasting impact? Join us.

We need your support to empower our young footballing hopefuls to take the field, to chase their dreams, and to be a part of the beautiful game.
