Current volunteer roles

  • We are seeking enthusiastic coaches to ensure Fitzroy Lions can continue to meet growing demand and serve the community.

Our coaches are part of our community, so ideally we are looking for people who want to play a mentoring and leadership role for our kids and families.

We understand that people are busy and may not be able to commit to a 'full time' team role. For coaches, all we ask in terms of continuity is that you are able to attend at least one training session per month.

    Responsibilities

As a junior coach, you will be responsible for leading/supporting training sessions, including planning, delivery of the session and team management (together with another coach). You will also be responsible on match day, including warm up, roster, coaching and leadership.

No direct coaching experience is required, but an understanding of soccer and/or experience working with kids is desirable.

  • The role of Secretary will ensure the long-term sustainability of the club, ensuring we can continue to serve the community and provide a fun, supportive environment for our emerging players. The Secretary sits on our management committee. This role is flexible and part-time, requiring approximately 10 hours' commitment per month.

    Responsibilities:

    - Liaise and lodge documentation with regulatory, compliance, and governing bodies including Consumer Affairs Victoria, Football Victoria and local council.

    - Support the business of the committee - circulate agendas, minutes, and committee notices

    - Take minutes at meetings

    - Monitor compliance of the committee with the law, the club rules/constitution, and internal policies

    - Communication point for all formal disputes and grievances

    - To collate and distribute all association and club contact details

    - Maintain the membership register

    - Maintain safe storage (for at least 7 years) of all books, documents, and securities of the Association.

    - Subject to the limitations imposed by the Club Rules/Constitution, provide registered members with access to documents of the Association

    - Coordinate preparation of the Annual Report

  • We are seeking a Treasurer to support the continued management and growth of the Club and our community programs. The Treasurer sits on our management committee. This role is flexible and part-time, requiring approximately 10-15 hours' commitment per month.

    - Liaise and oversee the Club’s financial / accounts operations

    - Present financial reports to Club meetings (both Committee Meetings and General Meetings)

    - Coordinate the preparation of the financial statements of the Association and their certification by the Committee prior to their submission to the annual general meeting of the Association.

    - Oversee the budget development for the Club on an annual basis

    - Strong understanding of club policies such as its finance policy, procurement policy, cash-handling policy, budget line delegations, reimbursement policy, and expenditure approval processes

  • We are seeking a grant writer to support the continued growth of the Club and our community programs. This role is largely project-based, requiring approximately 5-10 hours commitment per month.

    Responsibilities:

    - Identifying relevant grants and presenting these to the club committee for consideration
